About
About the Teacher, Veronica Muir

The school was set up by me, Veronica Muir. I have been dancing from
the age of five and have competed in both national and international
competitions. I have also had opportunities to perform in festivals around
the world including Moscow and Sicily. I became a registered teacher
(TCRG) in 2004 with Coimisiun le Rince Gaelacha, the largest governing body for
Irish dancing. I have found Irish dancing a great way to have fun whilst keeping
fit, building confidence and learning discipline.
How the school was formed
Scoil Rince i Muir is an Irish dance school based in Teesside. We started in 2004 with a small group of beginners and have grown into a class of almost forty. We have three classes a week with dancers of all ages and levels.
Many of our dancers enjoy taking part in competitions and have progressed from beginners through to intermediate and open level. We regularly travel up to Newcastle for feiseanna and plan to be heading further afield shortly.
We also like getting involved with local events and celebrations, having participated in the Billingham International folklore festival and danced at the Middlesbrough Little Theatre. For the last 3 years we have performed at the Thornaby show, a local community event.
Every year we organise a celidh at which every dancer is invited to take part in the performance. It is always a fun and entertaining evening, which everyone can get involved in. We also arrange trips for dancers and their families to see touring dance shows including Riverdance and Magic of the Dance.
